Chanthaburi : Michelin's recommendations

Visitors interested in precious stones will not want to miss Chanthaburi, renowned since the 15C for its rubies and sapphires which can be purchased at the town’s lively weekend market. Stroll through the centre and along the river and admire the houses on stilts, now home to shops selling basketwork, another traditional craft for which the town is famous. Also worthy of note are the colonial houses which date from the period of the French occupation (1893-1905).
