Although this royal palace, a summer residence built by Phra Narai in the 17C with the help of French architects, shows the influence of the Sun King, it is still difficult to imagine the full splendour of its past. Behind its ramparts, three courtyards contained buildings that were grouped according to their function: the king’s private apartments, ceremonial rooms, offices etc. Make sure you visit the Chantara Phisan in the central courtyard, as well as the small museum in the Phiman Mongkut.
