Considered as the “children” of the god Kala (the guardian of temples), the monkeys here are king, to such an extent that the inhabitants of Lopburi organise a sumptuous royal banquet in their honour every November, as well as, no doubt, to thank them for the financial benefits they bring, as Prang Sam Yot attracts crowds of tourists!
