Lamphun : Michelin's recommendations

Lamphun is the capital of the longan, a small fruit similar to the lychee, which is celebrated every August during a colourful festival which includes a parade, a beauty contest and a competition for the best fruit. Soak up the provincial atmosphere of this sleepy town on the west bank of the River Ping and take a stroll through its streets, stopping off at the Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, the oldest temple in the city (11C) and home to the largest gong in the world.
