Si Satchanalai has been renowned for its ceramics since the 13C. The Sawankha Waranayok Museum pays tribute to the skilled potters who lived in the villages of Ban Ko Noi and Ban Pa Yang, attracted here by the high quality of the clay. Trained by Chinese craftsmen, the potters created highly delicate green celadon and varnished stoneware (bowls, water jugs, pots etc) decorated with blue motifs, in which fish figure widely in the designs.
