Wat Sa Sri makes a delightful picture, with its elegant proportions and beautiful location demonstrating the aesthetic priorities of the original builders. Once over the wooden footbridge, admire the graceful walking Buddha – the gesture symbolises teaching – who appears to welcome the visitor. Turn right for a lovely view of the whole complex: the six rows of columns of the main sanctuary surrounded a large stucco Buddha, which has been carefully restored, while the view extends as far as a spacious chedi with a Sri Lankan-style bell-shaped dome.
