With the sound of water lapping against the boats, this delightful floating market is worth a visit for its bright colours and exotic scents. The female market traders, dressed in the local traditional costume, sell a range of goods either on the quayside or in dugout canoes loaded with vegetables, spices and fruit. This picture-postcard scene loses some of its authenticity after 9am when busloads of tourists flock here. It’s worth getting up early to appreciate the full charm of the market, which is situated along the narrow khlong (canals) which criss-cross Damnoen Saduak.
