Gabès : Michelin's recommendations

Gabès has a delightful white sandy beach but is best known for its oasis. Dotted with palm and fruit trees, and areas dedicated to market garden produce and plants used for dyeing, such as henna, this expanse of greenery on the edge of the Sahel is a charming place to explore. The parcels of land, separated by walls of earth, are irrigated via a complex network of small channels. 2km south of town, admire the Sidi Boulbaba mosque, the resting place for one of the companions of the Prophet, and home to the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, which is worth a visit.
