Situated 2.5km south of the town of Gabès, the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions is housed in an old 17C medersa which has been carefully restored. The cells of this Koranic school, arranged around a courtyard, now house exhibits of traditional weaving, jewellery and everyday utensils from southern Tunisia. A traditional wedding is represented in the prayer hall.
