The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, housed in an old Koranic school, displays exhibits that relate the history of daily life in the oases over the past centuries. The rich collection includes a wedding room with beautiful wedding dresses; strange African masks made from wood, which once belonged to the black slaves who worked in the oasis; and a collection of manuscripts, including a text drawn up under the Protectorate that detailed the oral tradition of water distribution.
