The Souk el-Leffa specialises in wool products, in particular carpets and blankets. The atmosphere here and in the nearby Souk ed Dziria is more intimate than elsewhere, and everything is conspicuous by its age, including the bazaars and even the patriarchal merchants dressed in their finery. The floor of the shops, made from wooden boards, is raised to waist height. You almost have the impression of walking past pictures out of a comic strip, as your eye catches an artisan crouched over his work amid a jumble of fabrics.
