Nabeul’s Friday morning market is one of the largest in Tunisia and provides an insight into local production: omnipresent pottery, mats, fine embroidered items and essences for the perfume industry. Nabeul is an important centre for the distillation of orange, geranium and jasmine blossom. Here, the riches of the Orient can be found alongside piles of sheepskin as well as a disparate collection of items which have been “Made in Europe” or “Made in Taiwan”.
