When to go
The best time to go to Istanbul is spring (April to mid-June) or early autumn, when the weather is mild and tourists less numerous. In September, the Marmara Sea is around 22°C and in May the hinterland is simply stunning.
Winters are also remarkably beautiful. The view of the Bosphorus is quite unforgettable.
In summer, particularly in July, the country is overrun with foreign and Turkish holidaymakers.
If you’re planning a long weekend in Istanbul, remember that many sites and museums are closed on Monday.
