This highly comprehensive museum is dedicated to Antiquity. Visitors are greeted by a Roman statue of Bes holding a headless lion. Don’t miss the sarcophagus of Alexander the Great (5C BC), decorated with bas-reliefs, descriptions of battles and hunting scenes. The ephebe from Tralles stands out among a host of elegant statues from the Persian, Greek and Roman periods. A stroll back in time in the museum will also include reconstructions of the façades of pagan temples, Ionian pottery, Attican frescoes and dreamy muses.
