Sinop
: Michelin's recommendations
With its delightful port protected by high ramparts, Sinop has been famous for its fish (anchovies and tuna) since Antiquity. Built on an isthmus, the town is surrounded by attractive beaches which are sheltered from the wind. Two of these are particularly charming: BKarakum, situated at the end of the promontory, and Korucuk to the south. Once you’ve had a swim, it’s worth heading to the museum, which houses a collection of objects relating to the town’s past, such as the small statue of the nymph Sinope and some ancient coins and amphorae.
