When to go
Spring and early autumn are the best seasons to visit Turkey, when the weather is mild and tourists less numerous.
Winter is also very beautiful, when Cappadocia is covered in snow.
In summertime, particularly July, the country is overrun with holidaymakers.
Time difference
The time in Turkey is GMT+2 and daylight saving time is also observed. So, when it is 12noon in London and Dublin, it is 2pm in Ankara.
Documents
European Union nationals are required to hold a valid passport for stays of less than three months.
To rent a car and drive in Turkey, you must have an international driving licence.
Health
No vaccinations are compulsory for Turkey and there are no particular illnesses or diseases.
Take painkillers, anti-diarrhoea medication and sun cream (in summer), but Turkish chemists have everything you could require.
