It is in the caravanserai and shopping streets around the Great Mosque that you can really feel the pulse of Bursa. Start at the Orhan mosque, the oldest imperial place of worship in Bursa (1339), which was rebuilt in the 15C and then again in the 19C. To the left as you exit the mosque, Orhan Gazi Square is crowded with the tables of a café that are laid out around a fountain. Why not stop here for a drink and watch the crowds as they head to the nearby shopping arcades and covered market. On the opposite side of the square admire the imposing presence of the Great Mosque.
