This region is a delight for nature lovers, from the gentle banks of Lake Bafa to the hills carpeted in olive groves and the area’s lunar landscapes, comprising of a mass of sandstone rocks. Dotted around the heart of the village of Kapiri, the ruins are somewhat difficult to locate. The ramparts (287 BC) are visible to the north, and children play on the agora, now the school courtyard, which adjoins the temple of Athena (3C BC). The Carian tombs, dug into the stone, overlook the shores of the lake and are now home to nesting pink flamingos and cormorants.
