The Hunat Hatun complex is one of the most impressive Seljuk monuments in Kayseri. Built in the early 13C by a sultan’s widow, the complex is still home to a mosque, a mausoleum (that of the founder), a Koranic school (now home to a fascinating ethnography museum), and a picturesque hammam which is still in use. Don’t hesitate to visit the mosque – making sure you abide by the usual regulations as Kayseri is a fairly conservative town – to admire the prayer hall adorned with a forest of columns.
