As soon as you arrive, you are struck by the magnificent façade of the mosque and its equally elegant marble portico. This is the most beautiful vestige of Beyazit I’s imperial complex, which was completed in 1395. Seriously damaged by several earthquakes, apart from the mosque only the türbe (mausoleum) of Beyazit I, the medersa and the ruins of an aqueduct remain from its original construction.
