The archaeological museum houses artefacts discovered at the nearby Hittite site of Kanesh (Kültepe), as well as various objects from the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods. In the first room, dedicated to the Bronze Age, note the two- and three-headed idols in alabaster, which represent the mother goddess, as well as the clay tablets covered with cuneiform inscriptions. Also of interest is the Hittite terracotta bathtub (1900-1200 BC) and the beautiful carved neo-Hittite steles.
