Carsi, the delightful old district of Safranbolu, is easily visited on foot and is home to some of the most interesting houses in the town. Many of these are built from a mixture of wood and adobe, some decorated with elaborate wood carvings and others with fine stuccowork. As you stroll through the quarter, you’ll pass Yemeniciler Arastasi (a labyrinthine market full of craft shops), the picturesque metalworkers bazaar where you’re welcomed by the sound of hammers, and the Ottoman cemetery. Other important sights include the mosque and the caravanserai.
