The “Table of Satan” : Michelin's recommendations
To the south, the road heads towards Sarmisakli, leaving to its right an indented and wild coastline. The nearest section to the town has been transformed into a nature reserve, the Pasa Limani. Further on, the road passes the foot of the Seytan Sofrasi promontory, a steeply sloped hill that heads toward the sea and enclosing the bay of Ayvalik. It owes its name (the “Table of Satan”), to the red light that illuminates its summit at dawn and dusk, as if all the devils in Hell were sitting around a table. The views of the islands and the sea are quite superb.
