Take a walk on the wild side at the country's oldest zoo and Atlanta's oldest attraction. Operating since 1889, Zoo Atlanta has offered guests the chance to see more than 1,000 animals in unique habitats with new rotational exhibits. This year's Trader's Alley features Xander and Sabah, the zoo's new sun bears. You also have the chance to welcome back the Sumatran tigers and wreathed hornbills.
Wander through exotic environments while learning about the more well-known animals and those on the verge of extinction. Listen to daily zookeeper talks, participate in interactive shows, and check out special events throughout the year.
Visit 2 of the nation's most recognized collections of gorillas and orangutans, as well as a global center for the care and studying of vanishing reptiles and amphibians.
For a more hands-on experience, spend some time with sheep, goats, and pigs at the petting zoo. Or give your feet a rest with a ride on the endangered-species carousel or the zoo's train.
