One of three existing cycloramas in the country (the other two are in Gettysburg National Military Park in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City), this 42ft-tall painting-in-the-round weighs more than 9,000 pounds and measures 358ft in circumference. Its scenes depict the Battle of Atlanta, the Civil War standoff that broke the back of the Confederacy. Visitors sit on a viewing platform surrounded by the painting and watch the events of July 22, 1864 unfold as the stage revolves.
