Locals love this Meli Cafe (there's a sister located in River North), not just for the food but because it offers something other than the traditional Greek eats in the heart of Greektown. The proximity to UIC and the Loop packs folks into this yellow dining room decorated with rows of marmalades. Pick homemade apricot and grape or another favorite for your toast. Meli is open through lunch, but breakfast is where it's at. The kitchen specializes in organic egg dishes such as omelettes, frittatas, and Benedicts. The sun-dried tomato and basil frittata, for example, is mighty wholesome and chock-full of ingredients. Waffles, French toast, and fancy sweet and savory pancakes and crêpes are alternatives for those who don't feel eggy.

      I should throw the money into water rather than here! The waitress' attitude makes me uncomfortable. The food here is average and not surprising. This would be my last time here.
