Gettysburg National Military Park Highly Recommended Highly Recommended Highly Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Preserving the landscape where the Battle of Gettysburg erupted in 1863, this 5,900-acre park was declared a National Military Park by Congress in 1895. The large brick visitor center grew from a small museum erected in the 1920s by the Rosensteel family, avid collectors of Civil War memorabilia. The center displays thousands of artifacts, including uniforms and firearms, in the Gettysburg Museum of the Civil War. The center also houses the circular concrete Cyclorama Center, displaying Pickett's Charge, a circular painting. A driving tour through the park traces the steps of Civil War soldiers and recounts the events of the three-day battle.
