James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Set in the historic Lockerbie Square neighborhood, this never-restored 1872 home presents the actual finishes and furnishings of Magdalene and Charles Holstein. Indiana-born poet James Whitcomb Riley (1849-1916) was a houseguest here for the last 23 years of his life. The drawing room contains Riley's guitar and player piano; the library across the hall was Riley's favorite room. Upstairs, framed examples of Riley's poetry decorate the walls.
