The first confrontation between the British soldiers and the Minutemen on April 19 took place in this triangular park. Henry Kitson's statue The Minuteman represents the leader of the Lexington militia, Captain Parker. Seven of the colonists killed here that day are buried beneath the Revolutionary Monument.
