Claude and Mildred Pepper Bayfront Park : Michelin's recommendations

Known locally as Bayfront Park, the 32-acre greensward was dredged from bay bottom in the mid-1920s. A popular venue for many decades, the park fell into disuse in the 1970s. Isamu Noguchi, famed Japanese landscape architect, planned the park's $30 million face-lift in the late 1980s. Noguchi's design incorporates (from south to north) his sculptures—the Challenger Memorial and Slide Mantra for children—as well as a prominent fountain, a broad bayside promenade, a laser light tower and a large amphitheater. These elements have helped restore the park's popularity.
