This array of turrets, finials, gables, porches and towers, designed by Richard Upjohn, was the talk of the town when it was built in 1879. Rising above heavily sculpted walls, the capitol's golden dome overlooks Bushnell Park, designed originally by Frederick Law Olmsted.
