Harriet Beecher Stowe Center : Michelin's recommendations

Near the Mark Twain house stands a simple 1871 Victorian cottage, which was home to writer Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-96) from 1873 until her death. Stowe, whose 1852 book Uncle Tom's Cabin served to solidify Northern feelings against slavery, also wrote several novels about New England. Lacy gingerbread motifs adorn the plain facade of her former home. The airy interior contains Stowe family furnishings and memorabilia.
