The refuge boasts 7mi of trails that lead through forest, wetlands and meadows, and along the slopes of Lenox Mountain. A beaver colony occupies the string of ponds in the valley; look for lodges along Yokun Brook. Canoe trips on the Housatonic River are offered from mid-May to Columbus Day. Come winter, the sancturary is a favorite spot for snowshoers and cross-country skiers.
