: Michelin's recommendations
Established in 1871 by the Vermont businessman and conservationist Frederick Billings, this working dairy farm provides a fascinating glimpse of life at the turn of the 20C. Daily demonstrations highlight animal husbandry, and butter is made in the basement of the restored 1890 farmhouse. The lives and culture of rural Vermonters are explored in a two-level exhibit and in the excellent film A Place in the Land, which examines the property's role in US conservation stewardship.
