Experience the charm and hospitality of the Deep South as you stroll the opulent Garden District neighborhood. Elegant mansions designed by leading-edge architects and builders of the 1800s line its suburban streets.
Once a part of the plantation owned by Bienville–the founder of New Orleans–this elegant area was built to rival the splendor of the French Quarter. Known for its fine examples of Greek Revival and Italianate architecture, the neighborhood also contains the homes of several former kings and queens of Mardi Gras, as well as one of local author Anne Rice's former residences. The tour includes refreshments at a local café, followed by a visit to Lafayette Cemetery–one of New Orleans' famous "Cities of the Dead"–with its unique above-ground burial system.
