The dark, Romanesque-style building (1891), with its stunning cypress interior, houses a fine collection of paintings, photographs, uniforms, battle memorabilia and other artifacts of the Civil War, including personal belongings of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson and Jefferson Davis, the Confederacy's only president.
