Due to a blockade of equipment needed for the ongoing construction of the Second Avenue subway line, Nick's may be a bit harder to spot but still ranks highly on Upper East Siders' short list of pizza favorites. This Manhattan location of the Forest Hills original, named for owner Nick Angelis, has cozy surroundings with tables overlooking the dough-tossing pizzaiolos and jovial service. In addition to the excellent, bronzed, crackling thin-crust pizzas, a variety of Italian-American pastas (referred to as "macaroni") and entrées are available as full or half portions for family-friendly dining. Offerings may include veal scaloppini with lemon and butter or an enjoyable tangle of linguini with white clam sauce infused with roasted garlic cloves.
