Chef Gabrielle Hamilton's sterling little bistro has long bewitched the city's foodies who cram its bar and row of tables. Unpretentious cooking in a room branded by pops of purple is Prune's hallmark, and a completely revised menu shines with newfound inspiration. "Straw and hay" pasta-fresh strands of egg and herbed linguine-is sauced with chicken livers and diced green tomatoes, while deep-fried rabbit is seasoned with romesco salt, and sided with buttermilk dressing. For the most simple yet epic finale ever, the season's best peaches are lightly sugared and laid over warm buttered toast. Prune's daiquiri (a zesty combination of three rums garnished with a vanilla bean swizzle stick that perfumes each sip) is proof of serious cocktail creativity.
