Cuisine Turkish

Between $25 and $50

The celadon façade of this tiny Turkish treasure with its frosted glass awning and art nouveau look holds its own in mundane midtown. Walls lined with large mirrors and a shiny pressed-tin ceiling stand over an armada of cool white marble-topped tables and bentwood bistro chairs. The décor seems French, but the cuisine leads to the Eastern Mediterranean with a definite stop in Turkey. A central, fully stocked bar serves as the launching point for Chef Orhan Yegen, who can be seen (and heard) directing his staff as they entice diners with a meze of citrusy olives, delicious hummus, garlicky cacik, and creamy tarama. House specials like rustic braised lamb chunks set atop a smooth eggplant purée seem straightforward but are deeply comforting.

      Pros

Good place to go if you crave for Turkish food. Ali Nazik is good ( not on the menu you have to ask for it). There are better places to be at in te same neighborhood.
