Snack may not be that quaint, laid-back Santorini taverna, but there is much to love in this bustling slip of a restaurant tucked into SoHo's quiet, leafy Thompson Street. The old black-and-white photos and shelves of Greek groceries fail to conjure far-off lands, but ignore the slightly erratic interior and strive to snag one of the four dining room tables. The Hellenic fare is authentic enough to transport at first bite. Just don't stop at the meze—entrées are equally satisfying. Despite the moniker, most of the portions here are hearty, including a generously-sized shredded lamb sandwich, topped with ripe tomatoes, roasted red onions, a smear of aïoli, and fresh arugula; or a Greek salad bursting with creamy feta, kalamata olives, and oregano.
