South Street Seaport
South Street Seaport
: Michelin's recommendations
This historic district encompasses an 11-block area of South Street along the East River just south of the Brooklyn Bridge. Hub of the city's worldwide shipping activities in the early 19C, it contains the largest concentration of early commercial buildings in Manhattan. Many of the oldest have been rehabilitated for commercial use. The Seaport attracts crowds to its cobblestone streets and wide-plank wharves, historical sites and fun museums. The attractions are scattered throughout the district, which extends from Water Street to the East River between John Street and Peck Slip.
