Named for its benefactor, automobile scion and art collector Walter P. Chrysler Jr., this art museum contains pieces ranging from Roman glass c.100 BC to contemporary works by Dale Chihuly.

Established 1917, the naval base sprawls across 8,000 acres edging the Elizabeth River and Willoughby Bay. The base is home port to 89 ships (including 5 aircraft carriers), 26 aircraft squadrons and more than 70 major naval commanders.

Horticulturalists and plant-lovers will love these botanical gardens gracing 155 acres with bountiful azaleas (Apr-mid-May), camellias (spring, fall & winter) and rhododendrons (May).
