Gatorland, in fact, was founded in 1949 as an amusement park/alligator farm, selling the reptiles for their meat and skins. The 110-acre -property still serves as a commercial alligator farm. Gatorland residents have been featured in TV commercials and in movies, including Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
