It's garish, it's gaudy, it's totally commercial-and those are just a few of the things you'll love about it. Don't feel you need to drive it. The best way to do International Drive is to hop on the I-Ride trolley-for a mere 75 cents (one way) you can cruise the entire 'hood, from 7am until midnight. There are 79 stops along the way on the trolley's main line alone. Be spontaneous and stop when the mood hits (i.e., "Look, honey-there's Skull Kingdom! Let's go!").
