This massive renovated 1898 warehouse with its vaulted brick ceilings, heavy wooden beams and iron braces opened as the history center in 1996. Illustrating western Pennsylvania history through artifacts, photographs, interactive videos, model structures and live theater, the center's excellent permanent exhibit, Points In Time (2nd floor) recounts chronologically the stories of the people who settled and developed this land. Completed in 2004, the Smithsonian Wing houses temporary exhibits and the Western Pennsylvanian Sports Museum.
