Shops and restaurants now occupy the riverfront warehouses along Bay Street (between Bay & Rivers Sts.), surrounding Factors Walk, a 19C center of cotton commerce. Here cotton traders would buy and sell from the bridgeways that connect the offices on the upper portion of the bluff with the warehouses below. The 1887 Old Cotton Exchange (100 E. Bay St., at Drayton St.) was the center of Savannah's post-Civil War cotton trade. Separating East and West Factors Walk, 1905 City Hall (corner of Bay & Bull Sts.), with its golden dome, reigns as a vibrant local landmark.
