Built as a brewery in 1959 with a bird sanctuary on the grounds. The simple venture mushroomed into the internationally famous zoo/amusement park that reigns today as the queen of Tampa attractions. Tied to an African theme, Busch Gardens incorporates nearly 3,000 animals and 300 acres of tropical gardens, as well as roller coasters, thrill rides, music and shows.
