Occupying adjacent lots just steps away from Sheridan Circle, the handsome Beaux-Arts mansions at nos. 2305 and 2311 were designed between 1909 and 1910. Sold to the Chilean government in 1923, no. 2305 is the ambassador's residence. No. 2311, faced with colossal Corinthian pilasters and surmounted by a steeply pitched mansard roof, was owned by the Nationalist government of China (Taiwan) from the 1940s to the 1970s; it was subsequently purchased by the government of Haiti.
