An unmistakable architectural statement on the Mall, this cylindrical building houses one of the finest collections of modern art in the country. Numbering some 11,000 objects, the collection encompasses paintings, sculpture, photographs, works on paper and video/installation based art. The sculpture holdings, ranging from the realistic to the monumental and abstract, make up the world's most comprehensive collection of 20C works in that medium. Works are displayed on three floors and in the lovely exterior Sculpture Garden and Plaza.
