A healthy assortment of banchan (small plates including kimchi, spicy mackerel etc) is usually a good indicator of a serious Korean restaurant, and you'll find no shortage of them at Hahm Ji Bach—a delicious Korean barbecue restaurant buried down a nondescript side street in the blossoming K-town that's sprung up near Queens' Murray Hill LIRR station. The unassuming Hahm Ji Bach won't woo you with it's plain-Jane décor, but scores major points for the patient, oh-so-knowledgable waitstaff service, and masterful Korean specialties like daeji bulgogi, a plate of marinated pork ribs in chili-garlic sauce sprinkled with bright green scallions; or boyang jeongol, a traditional hot pot of lamb, dumplings, and vegetables swimming in a rich, spicy beef broth.
